Why is choosing a caregiver one of the most important decisions a woman can make about birth?
Once you’re pregnant, or better yet, when you start thinking about getting pregnant, you’ll have to choose a caregiver to attend the birth of your baby. A healthy woman may choose either a midwife or a doctor.
Caregivers differ from one another in important ways, including their philosophy of birth, their style of practice, and where they attend births.
Learn about your options, ask lots of questions, and keep looking until you find a caregiver who “feels right.”
It may take some time and energy to find the right caregiver, but it is well worth the effort.
