In childbirth, systemic racism is a root cause of disparities that lead to higher maternal mortality rates for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Doulas help create a more equitable and respectful maternity care system.
Each workshop, we offer a number of BIPOC Scholarships at a 25% reduced rate. If you identify as BIPOC and have a financial barrier to taking our course, you are welcomed to apply.

How much can I earn as a doula? Is becoming a doula worth the investment?
The earning potential for doulas — and doula income overall — has never been stronger.
According to the 2026 DoulaMatch Fee Survey, birth doula fees continue to rise across the United States, with averages varying by state and experience level. In many markets, experienced doulas charge $1,500–$3,000+ per birth, with some metro areas running even higher.
What makes becoming a doula such an attractive career is the return on your investment.
Unlike professions that require years of school and tens of thousands in tuition, doula training is a surprisingly affordable investment. Many new doulas earn back the cost of their training after just one or two clients, depending on their local market and pricing.
Consider this example: If your workshop and certification costs less than $1,000 and you charge $400–$650 for your first births, you’ve covered your investment in just two clients. Once you’re certified, support just 2 births per month at $1,800 each, and that’s over $43,000 per year in doula income from birth fees alone.
Many doulas grow their income further by offering childbirth education, postpartum support, lactation support, placenta services, or mentoring other doulas.
Of course, your income depends on factors like your location, experience, marketing, availability, and business skills. Like any business, it takes professionalism and commitment to grow.
