Fears are educated into us, and can, if we wish, be educated out.

YES. I really believe this – I believe that fear is mostly created by the unknown. I believe that by educating and empowering yourself, becoming as prepared as you can, fear often fades away.

What do you think of when you think of birth. Does it scare you? Where did this fear come from? Did you know that you can overcome this fear, and learn how to ride the waves of emotion, the highs and lows, feel supported and loved in birth even through the challenges?

Julie Bonapace says “When women feel safe, they have better births – better outcomes. So it’s all about creating that mindset in women and their partners that they are protected.” – instead of feeling fearful of birth, if we self safe, cared for, supported, loved and empowered, birth itself would be safer.

There are 3 pillars to birthing efficiently and effectively for all mammals – they are: feeling safe, undisturbed and unobserved. I always say, consider the environment you’d want to make love in – does it include people watching you? Does it involve being scared? Does it include people walking in and out, interrupting or calling? Of course not!

Trusting Birth is Julie’s amazing book (recently translated into English) – she shares all about what is means to trust yourself and your body, the process and more. I recently chatted with her and asked her what her tips are for pleasurable birth – I hope you will watch our interesting conversation.
