Description

Imported from Mexico, these beautiful woven rebozos are the perfect gift for a client or to use in supporting them at birth.

As our social media maven and Childbirth Educator, Traditional Mexican Midwife Alejandra says, they come in surprise colors ~ “Mexican Style”.

“The Mexican Rebozo is a shawl used by Women in the Mesoamerican traditions. There are a lot of stories in this piece of clothing that has multiple qualities and many different uses.

To mention a few, the rebozo can support our bellies, carries almost everything, can give you a soft caress on your skin, balances your hips, keeps you warm and cozy, massages a tired body, and keeps the heart of a mom and baby together.

With thousands of different colors, it decorates your body and soul, It also brings a sense of belonging and connects you with your roots by being an ancestral garment.

There are many types of Rebozos in Mexico and each region has its own style of weaving their rebozos. The materials used depends on the region and climate. These rebozos come from Oxchuc, a small town located in the Highlands of Chiapas. There are 3 families who are in charge of the creation process and the selling. These rebozos are made by machines, just the fringes (the last part, the ends) of each rebozo are hand-made.

When you buy one, 2 Dollars from the cost of each rebozo are donated to Doña Caridad, She is a traditional midwife that is building a home birth in the neighborhood called “La Hormiga” located in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, the name of the place is “La Paloma Azul”
